Deploying Sophos 9.2.2 via FileWave
Recently I had to figure a way out for Deploying Sophos 9.2.2 via FileWave. I got a couple of requests on my email regarding how to do this so I am advancing this post first than the Building Deployments with FileWave that will be posted later this week.
As you all know Sophos changed how the Sophos installer works for Enterprise. The first part consists in preparing the Sophos Installer Package from the Enterprise Deployment console and put it on your desktop. Open Terminal and navigate to /Users/yourusername/Desktop/Sophos\ Installer.app/Contents/MacOS then type sudo -s and authenticate. Before we add this command to the Command Line in Terminal.app, copy and paste it to your favorite text editor, like TextWrangler or Atom and edit the information so it’s pointing to your server and your username/password combination:
Once you run this command Sophos will hash out the username and passwords and everything else. Your package will then be ready to be deployed.
In order to deploy it you need to copy the script below to a text file and name it. Mine is named install-sophos.sh
The script above is made to deploy the Enterprise Console managed client. If you want to deploy the stand alone client simply change the line that reads:
To make the FileWave Recipe, simply make an empty fileset and configure similar to this, just keep in mind to edit your install-sophos.sh with whatever path you have on the Fileset Contents (example of mine below):
If you Open your preferences for Sophos (Under the shield) It should look something like this:
If you are having trouble with the fileset, I have a template for your convenience (Without the Software) that you can download from dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uwjig6swhbq449z/Sophos%209.2.2%20Template.zip?dl=0
*Portions of this script comes from the knowledge base article posted by sophos on Feb 02, 2015 located at: http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/14179.aspx
