Enterprise Deployment of Sophos 9.2.2 for Mac OS X
It has been real challenging to make an Enterprise Deployment of Sophos 9.2.2 for Mac OS X. There is a serious lack of information on how to exactly do what and how to purposely deploy it to Mac Endpoints on the Enterprise or through tools like FileWave or Munki. I will write a separate entry for both FileWave and Munki deployments in a couple of weeks.
Get your Sophos Installer.app from your Enterprise Deployment console and put it on your desktop. Open Terminal.app and navigate to /Users/yourusername/Desktop/Sophos\ Installer.app/Contents/MacOS
Once there enter the command line below. Make sure you change the usernames and passwords to the ones you need to use and point the server to the correct Primary Server URL. (If you need to use different parameter calls just type CreateOnAccessPreconfig -? and you will get a list of all the settings you can use.)
This will generate the SIDs Sophos needs to run the installer and encrypt all the usernames and passwords you just injected. From here on, you can close Terminal.app and just open your favorite Text Editor (We use Atom.app or TextWrangler.app) and copy the script below and save it as sophos-install.sh
If you want to test this simply open Terminal.app and go to the folder where you have sophos, the installer components and call the script by sudo ./sophos-install-2015.sh
Sophos will remove which ever version you have installed then, install version 9.2.2 and force the autoupdate to run.
